The event will take place on the 9th of October 2022, 10.30am, at the Horsh Ehden nature reserve in North Lebanon and it is organised in the framework of the initiative "Step4Nature - STEPping up nature reserves capacity" funded by the Italian agency for development cooperation (AicsS) and implemented by Undp. The initiative started in 2020 and will be concluded in 2024. It aims at supporting the Lebanese nature reserves by improving the reserves' legal status and their overall management, strengthening their research and monitoring capacity, fostering the development of endemic species, and providing equipment and capacity buildings, ultimately promoting access to the reserves by domestic and international tourists.

The event, which will see the participation of the Undp Resident representative, the Italian Aambassador in Lebanon, and the Lebanese minister of Environment, after the opening and welcoming speeches, will start with the presentation and demonstration of wheelchairs specifically designed to promote access to nature reserves and natural areas as a whole to people with disabilities, followed by a short hike in the reserve (around one and a half hour). The event will end with the release in nature of several heads of endemic raptors and a presentation by an Ngo specialised in the care and release of local fauna, as well as bird watching.
